After a seven-year hiatus, rock supergroup The Winery Dogs hit the road in support of their
newly released third album, III. The long-awaited ”202III World Tour” kicked off on February 15, 2023 in Pennsylvania. Music Matters Media Productions, LLC and Philly Rock Radio were in attendance, covering their performance just two days into the tour on February 17 at The Keswick Theatre in Glenside, PA. The mighty lineup of guitarist/vocalist Richie Kotzen (Poison, Mr. Big, solo), bassist/vocalist Billy Sheehan (David Lee Roth, Mr. Big, Steve Vai), and drummer/vocalist Mike Portnoy (Sons of Apollo, Dream Theater) are back and better than ever.

Taking the stage first, longtime rocker and radio personality Keith Roth (Sirius/XM DJ/Hairnation/Ozzy’sBoneyard), performing with his band Frankenstein 3000. Their punk & rock-laced set included a surprise performance of Imperial Teen’s “You’re One” with Philly/Jersey's own ZouZou Mansour (Soraia) getting the crowd on their feet.

After a short intermission, the lights dimmed, the intro music played, the guys took the stage and the audience broke out in applause. Wasting no time, the set started with two new, full-throttled
singles “Gaslight” and “Xanadu” and continued with a diverse, mix of old and new hits like “I’m No Angel,” “The Other Side,” “Breakthrough,” “Mad World,” “Oblivion,” and “Elevate” spanning from their eponymous debut album The Winery Dogs released in 2013, Hot Streak released in 2015, and of course III released earlier this month.

The set arrangement encompasses the trio's work thus far, which was a beautiful thing, especially for newer fans. (See the full setlist below) This hard-hitting, powerhouse trio oozes talent. Each one is a virtuoso in their own right, and together, they create powerful, soulful, emotional, complex works of musical art. The Winery Dog’s multi-genre masterpieces take you on a ride, tell you a story and invoke many different emotions within each song. You could see how connected they are and how much they enjoy being on stage together. It wasn't about one band member more than another within the songs and performances. Just Kotzen, Sheehan, and Portnoy together, reminding us what we've been missing for the last seven years.

If you're lucky enough to be near one the upcoming tour stops here in the U.S. or abroad and
have a chance to go… do it!
