A Night of Firsts FOR HEAVENS EDGE at Brooklyn Bowl Philadelphia

As if the anticipation and excitement around the city weren’t high enough this past Saturday night with our Philadelphia Eagles playoff game going on at The Linc, the atmosphere inside Brooklyn Bowl Philadelphia was much the same as the venue filled with fans who were more than ready to “Rock Steady.” Hometown favorites of the glam rock music scene, Heavens Edge, were set to take the stage (in town) for the first time since 2018.

With the night’s emcee 93.3 WMMR’s Jacky Bam Bam taking to the airwaves last week and premiering new Heavens Edge music ahead of the upcoming album release campaign, diehard H.E. fans couldn’t wait for the boys to take the stage. Together since 1987, the forthcoming album will be the first since 1998’s Some Other Place, Some Other Time, first with bassist Jaron Gulino (Tantric, Lynch Mob, The L.I.F.E. Project), and the first release of a three-record deal inked by the band in 2022 with Frontiers Music Srl.

Frankenstein 3000 featuring Sirius XM's Keith Roth
Taking the stage first was longtime rocker and radio personality Keith Roth (Sirius/XM DJ Hair Nation/Ozzy’s Boneyard), performing with his band Frankenstein 3000. Their punk-fueled, hard rock set grabbed hold of the crowd and got them primed and ready to “Play Dirty.”

It was finally time… Heavens Edge took the stage and the crowd erupted. They wasted no time and started the night with fan favorite “Play Dirty.” The high-energy set was a perfect mix of the older hits “Rock Steady,” “Skin to Skin,” “Jacky,” and “Daddy’s Little Girl,” with a few new songs “Had Enough” and “What Could’ve Been” which they were also filming a video for. The new material seems to have a bit more edge to it, which I enjoyed very much. You could see how much fun they were having and how well they gel as a band.

The lights, the smoke, the music, the energy, the choreographed kicks, it was all there. It was a night five years in the making, but a night WELL worth the wait.

Great review, I completely agree! Brooklyn is a great venue to see bands. Heavens Edge is and was a great band with bad luck, haven’t seen them since the Empire and I didn’t notice a difference last week. Glad to see band is down to earth, talented musicians who are still in the area! Side note or thought… let’s have a Heavens Edge/ Lynch Mob show?!!!
