Not only has some very famous bands made their mark at Dobbs, but also many local bands have showed off their talents. Being in the music industry and covering the ins and outs of mainstream music in America, it has become very hard for bands to gain notoriety at live shows and performances. Especially in the day and age of SOCIAL MEDIA. There is AMAZON, ITUNES, and many other avenues that bands can now get their showcase out to very large populations and groups of people to hear. However; Im still old fashioned in that there is nothing better than witnessing up and coming bands live, raw, and uncut. Consequently, there is no better venue than DOBBS as far as mixing star talent with local talent. DOBBS always seems to pick just the right mix.
This Thursday, LYNCH MOB headlines what should be an incredible show. For those of you that are not familiar with LYNCH MOB, the band was formed in 1989 by George Lynch, former member of DOKKEN. In fact, George has been the band's only permanent member. The band mixes hard rock and heavy metal with mostly the server of the 1980's hair metal scene. Throughout the history of this band, they have suffered many highs and lows, with the hardest obstacle being the fact that they were trying to gain their wings during the rise of grunge metal. All in all, the band has released 6 Studio Albums, with their last one SUN RED SUN(2014) being their most successful that hit #6 on the Billboard 200 in the United States.
George Lynch may be one of the most underrated guitarists of all time. If you are curious, just check out some of his DOKKEN material. Lynch is very talented and brings raw energy to the axe like you have never heard before. He is very versatile with the guitar and is able to play all types of hard rock, metal, southern rock, etc. His latest project was joining with Michael Sweet of Stryper to form Sweet and Lynch. Their album ONLY TO RISE was a very good hard rock album that showcased Sweet's amazing vocals while reaffirming Lynch's bad ass guitar style. If you have never heard George Lynch, I highly recommend that you attend this show at Dobbs. The concert begins at 7PM sharp so do not be late.
You will also be treated to some of the best local up and coming hard rock and heavy metal in the local scene. SLYPHR will be performing once again at DOBBS. SLYPHR is one of the most entertaining and talented local bands of today. Three of its members are not even eighteen years old, but you would think they are veterans when it comes to playing music and performing in front of a crowd. Trust me, you do not want to miss a chance to see what I feel could be America's next biggest heavy metal stars. So, I hope to see you all on Thursday evening to Rock Out and enjoy some good old hard rock and heavy metal. Also, do not forget to check out THE SALOON ROCK CLUB @7PM this evening on PhillyRockRadio. Johnny E and Kevin L have some surprises for you so don't miss the show. Also, do not forget they take music requests so reach us at PHILLYROCKRADIO.com and give us your hits. Until next time, this has been Jason Voorhees reporting for PhillyRockRadio.
