Well, unfortunately Al Purdy has had to endure this struggle his entire life. Being blind, Al has silently went through life with the inability to see. Eyesight is something that you and I take for granted. Every day we wake up and open our eyes to the host of pictures and scenes that make up life's journey. Al Purdy does not know what this simple function feels like. When I was asked to undertake this opportunity to write about this awesome man, I was extremely . I mean, how often do we have the chance to try and make a difference in somebody else's life? As part of the Philly Rock Radio family, I am pleased to write about this Go Fund Me Campaign and it is with a heavy heart that I write.
Al Purdy has overcome many obstacles throughout his life while dealing with being blind. He was assisted by the Commission for the Blind in gaining willful employment in the auto industry. However; as he started his own family he began to struggle to keep gainful employment. Even though he carried the misfortune of being blind, Al always found a way to help others. Eventually, Al found himself in the Bass Pro Circuit. In fact, Al worked his way to the top as the Director of the New Jersey Bass Federation. He even created a kids fishing club to coincide with the adult version so that children could enjoy the sport.
Through all of his obstacles, Al was able to stumble upon the chance of a lifetime. Stem cell research has been an ongoing growth in all facets of the world. Al and his family have contacted doctors and scientists in India. These doctors believe that they can help Al gain sight so that he may finally enjoy the very thing that you and I take for granted everyday. The ability to see. The ability to witness. The ability to observe. The ability to pay attention to every detail. The ability to see color. I do not even know Al Purdy; however, I do know that it would mean the world to him and his family if they could get the funding to help him "see." I hope that all of you will take the opportunity to donate whatever you have for this cause. I am sure Al and his family are grateful for every penny.
In conclusion, I would ask that everyone do their part to help this extraordinary individual. Al Purdy stands for all of the people that are less fortunate than you and I. So if you would like to help Al, go to the GO FUND ME site for AL Purdy Fund For Sight. If you have any questions or would like any further information, contact me or John Erriccson @ PhillyRockRadio.com. I hope that Al is able to achieve his goal and can one day read this article. God Bless.
