As time has went on and as the decades have come and gone, fantasy sports has become more and more popular. In the modern day faction, Fantasy Football is the most popular. I have participated in Fantasy Football for years, ever since I was a young teenage boy at the age of 15. However, this is the very first year that I have participated in Fantasy Baseball. I am actually enamored fifth Fantasy Hockey, but yet to take the plunge. I must admit, I had no idea what to expect when joining the Fantasy Baseball League. I mean, it was a bunch of co-workers and limited pressure as the league fee was only 30 Dollars $30.00. I mean, I have been in Fantasy Football leagues where the league fee is 200.00$. So, this was a minor blip in my mirror. However, Fantasy Baseball is so much different than Fantasy Football. Of course, the logical reason for this is that the NFL season is only 16 games while baseball is 162 Game Marathon.
I am an expert i n Fantasy Football and I know all of the tricks of the trade. However, Fantasy Baseball is so much more involved. The first huge difference is that there are only 16 Football Games throughout the season. While in retrospect, there are 162 Games in the MLB season. Usually in the NFL fantasy season, i have a real good idea of what players I would like to sign and in which round. However, the strategy with Fantasy Baseball is so much different. One would think it may make sense to take the best player available on the board just like in Football. However, this is not always the case because baseball has more positions...some that are weaker than others. For example, Troy Tulowitzki (SS) from Collarado is heads and shoulders better than the next available shortstop so he went high in many drafts. The same holds true for pitching. When the to Pitcher went in the draft, there was a run on pitching as everyone wanted a piece of the pie.
I must admit, in my league I have made over 40 moves right now. This breaks down to 6 per week. I think the object in Baseball is long term preservation, however, I seem to be stuck on the Football mentality where only certain players dominate the entire season. This has been a learning experience for me I want to say. I would like to try the other fantasy sports like Hockey and NBA. No matter what the case, no matter how young or old you are, no matter if you are a die hard, or just an occasional fan, no matter if you can get up or are stuck down, no matter what age you are, Fantasy Sports enables a person to enjoy an entire sports season, even if your favorite team stinks. In conclusion, check out Fantasy Sports if you have not yet. You will be blown away by the atmosphere! This is Jason Voorhees reporting for Phillyrockradio.com. Until next time... rock on droogies :_)
