As the song says I really have been away for too long.  It feels like eternity since the pen last met paper (or in this case that the finger graced its presence with the keyboard.)  At any rate, I would like to thank the Philly Rock Radio Team (Kevin and Johnny E) for talking me out of retirement.  Hopefully this wont be another KISS reunion tour.  This past year has been a roller coaster ride for me personally and I am looking forward to being able to do what I love again; and that is write about the two most passionate things in my life: heavy metal music and professional sports.  The best part about writing is that it enables the author to connect with its fans in ways that are beyond measure.  I enjoy being able to educate people and bring interesting topics to the table.  Writing is a special type of entertainment because it enables the reader to form their own opinion and interpretation of the writers point of view.  Right, wrong, or indifference are not in play when it comes to a blog.  That is what makes blogging so much fun in my opinion; the fact  that we all have a spoke in the wheel so to speak.  Anyways, enough jargon for the evening.  I just want you all to know that I am happy to be back and thankful to be apart of Philly Rock Radio once again.  I look forward to bringing the Sports N Metal Blog to the next level and maybe eventually having my own radio show to support it as well.
Some quick sports tidbits...The Flyers gave Ron Hextall the axe today.  I can't say I saw this coming but I am also not surprised.  Scapegoat some would say.  I say its the coach and the players.  Claude Giroux has been an extreme disappointment in the playoffs as has Simmonds and Voracek.  Time will tell...hopefully they take their time and get someone who can change the culture of the franchise.

Meanwhile, the Phillies have been linked to virtually every free agent and would be trade candidate in the league: Bryce Harper, Manny Machado, Jean Segura, Craig Kimbrell, Patrick Corbin, Paul Goldshmidt, Edwin Diaz, Andrew Miller, JA Happ, and the list goes on and on.  One name you can cross off the list is Josh Donaldson who signed with the Atlanta Braves today.  I actually have a funny story that will blow your mind.  This past summer I purchased MLB 2018 and played the franchise mode where you take a team through season after season as the GM and make trades, sign free agents, etc.  Well, of course it was the off season and this is how I made my play: Signed Manny Machado and Bryce Harper to 10 year $300 million dollar contracts.  Signed Patrick Corbin to a 10 year $125 million dollar contract.  Traded for Paul Goldshmidt.  Signed Craig Kimbrell to a 4 year $54 million dollar contract.  And traded for Jean Segura.  The lineup was Jean Segura, Paul Goldshmidt, Manny Machado, Bryce Harper, Rhys Hoskins, Carlos Santana, Odubel Herera, JP Crawford, and Alfaro.  Lol...what a pipe dream right.  Dreamers can dream.  But hey...this really could happen if the Phillies spend the "stupid" money that they are reportedly looking to spend...stay tuned.
And yay, the Eagles are finally back in the win column and are one win away from taking over the NFC East lead...who would have thought.  And finally, Markell Fultz is getting his shoulder looked at once again.  What are the odds of him being a sixer any time after this season...not looking good.  Well, if nothing else, 2019 is gonna be one wild ride for philly sports one way or another.  Well this concludes my first day back at the wheel...its great to be back and you will be seeing a lot more of MR VOORHEES going forward so you better watch your back...the red coats are coming.
