Sunday also saw many other crazy games that went back in forth. The game between the Washington Redskins and Philadelphia Eagles marked the return of DeSean Jackson to Lincoln Financial Field, since the untimely trade and exodus of the once popular star player. DeSean was questionable all week to play going into the week, but anyone that knows the eager star had no doubts that he would play. Well, the first half did not see Jackson make a huge impact, but instead the Redskins Defense, as well as Kurt Cousins. Then, the Philadelphia Eagles got a huge boost from special teams guru Chris Polk, who had a 102 yard Kickoff Return for a touchdown, ala Bo Jackson as he ran the ball all the way into the tunnel.
However, the turning point of the game was a total cheap shot on Eagles Quarterback Nick Foles, who never saw the Redskins defender coming at him as he was blasted to the turf, in what is being described as the hardest hit he has ever received. The hit brought an ensuing brawl between the two divisional rivals as Eagle's Tackle Jason Peters went after the Redskins player in defense of his teammate. The brawl lasted less than two minutes but it seemed to ignite an Eagles team that was struggling to play their game. The end result, three players ejected. And then the Nick Foles picked himself up and drove the Eagles down the field for the eventual game winning touchdown to Jeremy Maclin, as the Eagles held on for a 37-34 win against the Division Rival Redskins.
There were also many other interesting results on Sunday. The Detroit Lions made the Green Bay Packers look like a team lost in space. The Lions dominated both lines of scrimmage and were able to keep Aaron Rodgers at bay. The Lions were able to get a Defensive Touchdown on a Fumble Recovery by D. Carey. They also were able to get Reggie Bush into the end zone for the first time this season. The San Francisco 49ers were upset by the Arizona Cardinals, who are now 3-0 on the season. The Dallas Cowboys made a huge second quarter comeback on the Saint Louis Rams and won 34-31. That would have been an embarrassing loss for the upstart Cowboys. Meanwhile, the Chargers beat the Bills 22-10 behind a stellar defensive performance, the New York Giants stunned the Houston Texans 30-17 (as Eli Manning finally looked like an NFL Quarterback), The Saints beat the Vikings 20-9 as Teddy Bridgewater got his first NFL action in relief of the injured Matt Cassel, The Bengals manhandled the Tennessee Titans 33-7 in a blowout, the Ravens just got passed the Browns 23-21, The Indianapolis Colts destroyed the Jaguars 44-17, the Dolphins were upset by the Chiefs 34-15 and the Steelers beat the Carolina Panthers 37-19 on Sunday Night Football as their Running Game dominated.
In a huge surprise, the New England Patriots just got by the horrible Oakland Raiders by a 16-9 score. I am not sure, but Tom Brady does not seem very comfortable this season behind center. New England's Defense did rise to the occasion allowing only 3 Field Goals. This marked the first time in NFL history that all scores were made by players with the last name Kowski...Gronkowski, Gostikowski, Janikowski, scoring all of the points for their respective teams. So now, Monday night pits the Chicago Bears against the New York Jets. The Bears have a dangerous offense, but the Jets have that dominant front seven. Look for the Jets to load up the front to stop the Bears running game, forcing Jay Cutler to beat them through the air. Ok, so stay tuned for my Week #4 review and predictions.
Meanwhile...in Metal news, Slash has just released a brand new album. As my friend describes it, the album is Guns n Roses meets Velvet Revolver. Slash is incredible pounding out incredible solo after solo. Myles Kennedy has that voice that just matches Slash's intensity on Guitar. Also, Tom Araya from Slayer explained in a recent interview that the new album will be heavier than any in a long time. Accept is enjoying success from their recent album, Stampede, which has stampeded itself to the top of the charts. Motley Crue continues their farewell tour with Alice Cooper. I will have much more Metal news in the days to come including a very special announcement and surprise. Its been real folks...enjoy your Monday evening...\m/\m/\m/!!!!!!!!!!!
