NFL WEEK #3 REVIEW & METAL NEWS

Sorry for my ineptness folks as I was not able to get my Week #3 Picks in before Sunday.  However; I would like to provide a review of Sunday's Action.  Of course, there were many story lines  and memorable moments in Sunday's NFL action.  You had the rematch between Peyton Manning and the Denver Broncos against the Super Bowl Champion Seattle Seahawks.  The game was actually much more entertaining than the said Super Bowl as the game went into overtime with the Seahawks eventually winning 26-20.  However; the game was very hard fought by the Denver Broncos as they played a complete game and took it to overtime with a ferocious comeback.
Sunday also saw many other crazy games that went back in forth.  The game between the Washington Redskins and Philadelphia Eagles marked the return of DeSean Jackson to Lincoln Financial Field, since the untimely trade and exodus of the once popular star player.  DeSean was questionable all week to play going into the week, but anyone that knows the eager star had no doubts that he would play.  Well, the first half did not see Jackson make a huge impact, but instead the Redskins Defense, as well as Kurt Cousins.  Then, the Philadelphia Eagles got a huge boost from special teams guru Chris Polk, who had a 102 yard Kickoff Return for a touchdown, ala Bo Jackson as he ran the ball all the way into the tunnel.
However, the turning point of the game was a total cheap shot on Eagles Quarterback Nick Foles, who never saw the Redskins defender coming at him as he was blasted to the turf, in what is being described as the hardest hit he has ever received.  The hit brought an ensuing brawl between the two divisional rivals as Eagle's Tackle Jason Peters went after the Redskins player in defense of his teammate.  The brawl lasted less than two minutes but it seemed to ignite an Eagles team that was struggling to play their game.  The end result, three players ejected.  And then the Nick Foles picked himself up and drove the Eagles down the field for the eventual game winning touchdown to Jeremy Maclin, as the Eagles held on for a 37-34 win against the Division Rival Redskins.
There were also many other interesting results on Sunday.  The Detroit Lions made the Green Bay Packers look like a team lost in space.  The Lions dominated both lines of scrimmage and were able to keep Aaron Rodgers at bay.  The Lions were able to get a Defensive Touchdown on a Fumble Recovery by D. Carey.  They also were able to get Reggie Bush into the end zone for the first time this season.  The San Francisco 49ers were upset by the Arizona Cardinals, who are now 3-0 on the season.  The Dallas Cowboys made a huge second quarter comeback on the Saint Louis Rams and won 34-31.  That would have been an embarrassing loss for the upstart Cowboys.  Meanwhile, the Chargers beat the Bills 22-10 behind a stellar defensive performance, the New York Giants stunned the Houston Texans 30-17 (as Eli Manning finally looked like an NFL Quarterback), The Saints beat the Vikings 20-9 as Teddy Bridgewater got his first NFL action in relief of the injured Matt Cassel, The Bengals manhandled the Tennessee Titans 33-7 in a blowout, the Ravens just got passed the Browns 23-21, The Indianapolis Colts destroyed the Jaguars 44-17, the Dolphins were upset by the Chiefs 34-15 and the Steelers beat the Carolina Panthers 37-19 on Sunday Night Football as their Running Game dominated.
In a huge surprise, the New England Patriots just got by the horrible Oakland Raiders by a 16-9 score.  I am not sure, but Tom Brady does not seem very comfortable this season behind center.  New England's Defense did rise to the occasion allowing only 3 Field Goals.  This marked the first time in NFL history that all scores were made by players with the last name Kowski...Gronkowski, Gostikowski, Janikowski, scoring all of the points for their respective teams.  So now, Monday night pits the Chicago Bears against the New York Jets.  The Bears have a dangerous offense, but the Jets have that dominant front seven.  Look for the Jets to load up the front to stop the Bears running game, forcing Jay Cutler to beat them through the air.  Ok, so stay tuned for my Week #4 review and predictions.

Meanwhile...in Metal news, Slash has just released a brand new album.  As my friend describes it, the album is Guns n Roses meets Velvet Revolver.  Slash is incredible pounding out incredible solo after solo.  Myles Kennedy has that voice that just matches Slash's intensity on Guitar.  Also, Tom Araya from Slayer explained in a recent interview that the new album will be heavier than any in a long time.  Accept is enjoying success from their recent album, Stampede, which has stampeded itself to the top of the charts.  Motley Crue continues their farewell tour with Alice Cooper.  I will have much more Metal news in the days to come including a very special announcement and surprise.  Its been real folks...enjoy your Monday evening...\m/\m/\m/!!!!!!!!!!!

TAMPA BAY BUCCANEERS (0-2, LAST PLACE)
@

ATLANTA FALCONS (1-1, SECOND PLACE TIED)
OK..so Thursday Night Football has the Tampa Bay Bucs' going on the road to face the Atlanta Falcons.  This will be a tough divisional game and these teams always play to the last whistle.  For the Falcons, Matt Ryan looks like he is back and has the many weapons that are healthy.  Julio Jones, Roddy White, Steven Jackson are all injury free this season.  Of course, the Falcons upset the Saints in Week #1 and then lost a tough one in Week #2.  However; the Falcons look more balanced this season and have improved on Defense.  Meanwhile, the Tampa Bay Bucs are 0-2 and looking very bad.  They have scored the second least amount of points in the NFC.  Their Defense has not been bad, but the offensive woes plague this team. Starting Running Back Doug Martin missed Week #2 due to an injury.  However; backup tailback Bobby Rainey was more than capable of filling in, pitching in over 170 yards of total offense and a score.  Tampa's passing game has been non-existent and they have not protected the quarterback very well.
Thursday Night Games have either been great or blowouts the past few years.  Now as mentioned...this game features two Divisional Rivals so one would hope they both bring their "A" Game.  Although Tampa usually plays the Falcons tough... I am going Atlanta to win at home and the score will be 27-17, thus beating the 6.5 Point Spread.  My heroes (Studs) will be Steven Jackson and Atlanta's Defense.  My Goats will be (Duds) Bobby Rainey and the Tampa Defense.  Stay tuned for the rest of my Week #3 Picks.  And BTW...All you Fantasy Owners, do not forget to set your lineup as there is a game tonight and you would not want to get a zero.  Good luck to all you Fantasy Gurus!!!

NFL WEEK #2 PICKS/FANTASY STUDS & DUDS

Week #1 of the NFL Season was as exciting as I can remember for the first week of the season in a long time.  There were upsets, huge performances, surprises, disappointments, and many other on field aspects.  MEGATRON put on a show on the monday night game between the Detroit Lions against the New York Giants.  In contrast, last year it took Calvin Johnson until Week #4 to get going last season.  This is scary for the league.  Anyways, lets rehash my picks for last week and then move onto Week #2.  Finally, the leagues mishandling of the Ray Rice situation took away from the important story lines of Week #1, so we will not get into that drama.  That is a debate for another date and time.
So Week #1 saw my record begin at 10-5 with my picks.  Of course, there were a few upsets and the ones I saw coming did not.  The Miami Dolphins, Tennessee Titans, Atlanta Falcons, Buffalo Bills, and Carolina Panthers all won against the odds.  As far as Fantasy Standouts, there were a few no brainers and also a few surprises.  Calvin Johnson, Peyton Manning, Julius Thomas, A.J. Green to name a few came out and lit it up on Week#1.  Other players like Jamal Charles, LeSean McCoy, and Jimmy Graham did not do as well.  That is what I love about the NFL...each and every week any team can win at any given time no matter what the prediction may be.  Every week there are surprises and disappointments, injuries, and story lines that dominate the social media network.  Ok, so now let's get to Week#2 and my picks for this week.

Picture
DETROIT LIONS (1-0, FIRST PLACE)
@
Picture
CAROLINA PANTHERS (1-0, FIRST PLACE)
Week#1 saw the Carolina Panthers beat the Tampa Bay Buccaneers 20-14, while the Detroit Lions destroyed the New York Giants 35-14 on Monday Night Football.  It was a tale of two games.  The Panthers were able to control the clock and limit the Buc's running game.  Doug Martin was a non-factor.  Meanwhile, the Detroit Lions came out on fire in the first half as Matt Stafford was perfect on his first 8 Passes.  Calvin Johnson had two touchdowns in the first quarter alone.  Detroit's passing game was stellar in the first half.  In contrast, Eli Manning looked like a lost puppy dog.  His passes were errant and he look very uncomfortable in the pocket against the dominant Detroit pass rush.  So, here we are Week#2 and the Lions visit the Panthers in Carolina.  Cam Newton will be back in action, but he will be rusty.  I cannot believe that the experts in Vegas have the Lions as underdogs in this one despite the fact they are on the road.
My Pick is the DETROIT LIONS 35-10.

Picture
MIAMI DOLPHINS (1-0, FIRST PLACE)
@
Picture
BUFFALO BILLS (1-0, Tied For FIRST PLACE)
This is a Pick Em in Vegas.  Both teams are coming off upsets of upper echelon teams in the New England Patriots and Chicago Bears.  Both the Miami Dolphins and Buffalo Bills are coming into their own.  They each have solid rushing attacks, good defenses, and a controlled passing game.  E.J. Manuel is in his second season as the Bills signal caller and he has a few weapons at his disposal.  However, the Bills true strength is their running game with Fred Jackson and C.J. Spiller.  The Dolphins are lead by Ryan Tannehill who seems to get better with each passing game.  The Dolphins also have a strong running game with Knowshon Moreno.  These are two teams on the rise; however I feel the Dolphins are a bit ahead of the curve.
My Pick is The MIAMI DOLPHINS 20-17.

Picture
JACKSONVILLE JAGUARS (0-1, LAST PLACE)
@
Picture
WASHINGTON REDSKINS (0-1, LAST PLACE)
This game pits two 0-2 teams as Jacksonville and Washington were both embarrassed in Week #1.  However; the Jaguars were able to some good things on offense.  Chad Henne did not look bad and he is still lacking that star wide receiver in this offense.  The Redskins just looked lost.  RGIII was lost and there was no big plays by the Redskins offense, despite the weapons they added in the offseason.  DeSean Jackson was a non-factor and Tight End Jordan Reed was injured midway through the game.  Both of these teams had higher expectations and performed poorly in Week#1.  The Redskins are favored by six at home in this one.
I am going against the grain as Jacksonville wins 17-16.

Picture
DALLAS COWBOYS (0-1, LAST PLACE)
@
Picture
TENNESSEE TITANS (1-0, FIRST PLACE)
Week #1 saw the Tennessee Titans upset the heavily favored Kansas City Chiefs.  Meanwhile, the Dallas Cowboys looked like the Dallas Cowgirls as they lost 28-17 to the San Francisco 49ers.  Dez Bryant was hurt in this game and he also showed his immaturity with a few sideline rants.  The Cowboys to me are a team in turmoil and they will have another awful season, despot the many weapons their team implores.  Tennessee looked very efficient on both sides of the ball.  Jake Locker is coming into his own and the Titans have a few weapons on the outside.  The Titans also have a very strong defense.  Tennessee is favored by 3.5 in this one over the Cowboys.  As good as Tennessee appears and as bad as Dallas looks, I have to go with Dallas in this one because it is a must win already.
                                                                          Dallas wins 24-17.

Picture
ARIZONA CARDINALS (1-0, FIRST PLACE)
@
Picture
NEW YORK GIANTS (0-1, LAST PLACE)
The Arizona Cardinals beat a very good San Diego team on Monday Night.  In contrast, the Giants were demolished by the high flying Detroit Lions.  The Cardinals come into this season with all of their key pieces and are lead by their Defense.  The Giants however, are coming into the season missing some of their weapons and are in a first season with a brand new offense.  The Cardinals won despite missing their franchise running back Andre Ellington.  Adding Carson Palmer has made the Arizona passing game more of a threat.  If the Giants expect to have any chance in this one they will need to put pressure on the Quarterback.  Also, the Giants need to get back to running the rock to control the clock.  The Cardinals are favored on the road and I do not see any different outcome.
                                                                             The ARIZONA CARDINALS win 20-10.

Picture
NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS (0-1, LAST PLACE)
@
Picture
MINNESOTTA VIKINGS (1-0, FIRST PLACE)
Well here we are in Week#2 and already more controversy.  Vikings star running back Adrian Peterson turned himself into authorities this week after charges that he abused a child.  This is the second week in a row where a high profile running back (Ray Rice last week) has been in trouble.  The Vikings have deactivated Peterson for this game.  Its ashamed because the Vikings were really rolling.  Coraddelle Paterson will have to pick up the slack.  The Patriots on the other hand were embarrassed by the Miami Dolphins in Week#1.  So, I am sure Tom Brady and bunch will be looking for revenge this week.  I think the loss of Peterson hurts any chances of a Vikings upset.
The NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS win 34-17.

Picture
NEW ORLEANS SAINTS (0-1, LAST PLACE)
@
Picture
CLEVELAND BROWNS (0-1, LAST PLACE)
The New Orleans Saints were upset by the upstart Falcons in Week #1.  Drew Bree's and Company will be looking for revenge.  The Browns did get good news this week when they found out that star wide receiver Josh Gordon will be back in Week #11.  However, that is a long time away.  Meanwhile, the Browns lost starting tailback Ben Tate and will be using a duo of backs this week.  Brian Hoyer looked decent in Week #1, but he will be facing a good front seven with the Saints.  Drew Bree's has so many weapons as always and will look to spread the ball around.  The Saints need a win and cannot afford to go down 0-2.
MY Pick is the SAINTS 38-17.

Picture
ATLANTA FALCONS (1-0, FIRST PLACE)
@
Picture
CINCINNATI BENGALS (1-0, FIRST PLACE)
Week #1 saw the Atlanta Falcons bring their "A" Game.  The Falcons looked like the Falcons of two years ago.  On Offense, they spread the ball around and used a balanced attack.  Matt Ryan set a Falcon's passing record, throwing for almost 450 Yards.  The Falcons also ran the ball with authority.  On Defense, they were all over the field and made many tremendous plays.  The Falcons bring their 1-0 record to Cincinnati to take on the 1-0 Bengals.  The Bengals also have an upstart team that is expected to go far in the playoffs this season.  Giovanni Bernard had over 100 all-purpose yards last week and Andy Dalton threw the deep ball better than ever.  The Bengals employ one of the best receiving corps in the NFL, lead by A.J. Green.  As good as the Falcons looked last week...they will come down to earth today.
                                                                         BENGALS win 28-20.

Picture
TAMPA BAY BUCCANEERS (0-1, LAST PLACE)
@
Picture
SAINT LOUIS RAMS (0-1, LAST PLACE)
This is a tale of two teams.  The Tampa Bay Buccaneers lost in Week #1, but were in the game the entire time.  The Rams are now on their third Quarterback, which can never be good for any team.  Also, Zack Stacy was injured in Week #1 so this really puts a dent in the Rams offense.  The Buccaneers were upset by the Carolina Panthers.  However; the Bucs still have one of the best defenses in the league and can get after the Quarterback.  This is not good news for the depleted Rams.  Neither of these teams has a dominating offense so look for the game to be low scoring.
                                                                 TAMPA BAY wins 17-13.

Picture
SEATTLE SEAHAWKS (1-0, FIRST PLACE)
@
Picture
SAN DIEGO CHARGERS (0-1, LAST PLACE)
The Chargers lost a tough one on Monday Night to the Defensive studded Arizona Cardinals.   Now they face yet another dominating Defense in Seattle.  However; this the home opener and the Chargers are great at home.  Seattle dominated the Green Bay Packers in Week #1.  However, that was 11 days ago so Seattle may be a little rusty.  If there was a trap game on the Seahawks schedule this season, this one would be it.  But I cannot see the Chargers beating the Seahawks.
                                                                   SEATTLE SEA HAWKS win 24-20.

Picture
HOUSTON TEXANS (1-0, FIRST PLACE)
@
Picture
OAKLAND RAIDERS (0-1, LAST PLACE)
The Houston Texans came out firing on all cylinders.  Their Defense, led by J.J. Watt dominated the line of scrimmage.  Unfortunately, they have lost their number one pick, Jadaveon Clowney, which puts a damper on how good that the Defense could be.  However; Andre Johnson still looks like he can take it to the house on any play.  And Arian Foster looked healthy once again.  The Raiders are the Raiders.  I just never see a ray of hope for this team as long as Al Davis is in charge.
                                                               HOUSTON wins 20-10.

Picture
NEW YORK JETS (1-0, FIRST PLACE)
@
Picture
GREEN BAY PACKERS (0-1, LAST PLACE)
The Green Bay Packers were destroyed by the Seattle Seahawks in Week #1.  Aaron Rodgers could not get going and the Packers seemed rusty.  However; Green Bay is at home this week where they are usually unstoppable.  Let's not forget that they were also facing the Defending Champion Seahawks at Seattle, where Seattle had lost only once in 20 games.  The Jets are 1-0 after beating Oakland.  However; they will now face the dynamic offense of the Packers.
                                                                            PACKERS win 28-13.

Picture
KANSAS CITY CHIEFS (0-1, LAST PLACE)
@
Picture
DENVER BRONCOS (1-0, FIRST PLACE)
This game is a rematch of last season's two best AFC Teams.  Not this year though.  Denver is still the Top Team; however, Kansas City is falling fast.  They are bruised and battered.  Andy Reid seems like he has forgotten how to coach.  Their Defense has been burned by injuries as well as offenses.  Denver is Denver.  They will go as far as Peyton Manning goes.
                                                                        DENVER wins 35-17.

Picture
Picture
CHICAGO BEARS (0-1, LAST PLACE)
@
Picture
SAN FRANCISCO 49ers (1-0, FIRST PLACE)
The 49ers looked extremely dominant again.  They run the ball with Frank Gore.  They pass the ball with Colin Kaepernick.  They play All Pro Defense.  They will be facing a Bears team that lost in Week #1 and were upset by the Buffalo Bills.  Well, the Bears are in trouble because the 49ers are Dominant.
                                                                  San Francisco 49ers win 23-20.

Picture
Picture
PHILADELPHIA EAGLES (1-0, FIRST PLACE)
@
Picture
INDIANAPOLIS COLTS (0-1, LAST PLACE)
The Monday Night matchup is going to be a doozy.  Philly visits Indy for a Monday Night Showdown.  The Eagles are coming off a 34-17 win, in which they scored 34 unanswered points against a porous Jacksonville Defense.  However; the Colts lost a tough one to the Denver Broncos.  This game should be extremely exciting.  The Colts are favored by 3.5 at home.
                                I am not being a homer...but I am Going Philly 38-35.
Ok...
So here are my Fantasy Studs and Duds for the Week!

NFL WEEK #1 PreDICTIONS/FANTASY STUDS & DUDS

9/6/2014

Picture
So here we are finally, the most anticipated day in sports every year.  Week #1 of the NFL season kicks off tomorrow in full force.  Sure, there was the Thursday game between the Seattle Seahawks and Green Bay Packers; however, Sunday marks the full start to another exciting season of Football.  Every team is even at this point.  The goal is in sight.  Play hard, win games, make the playoffs and win the Super Bowl.  Of course, there are favorites and underdogs every week so the season must play out to give fans a better picture of where their team stands in the pecking order.
Since I began this blog two years ago...I have been providing a weekly preview and also picking my winners and losers each week.  In past years I had special guests join in with their two sense and opinions.  This season will be no different.  So without further a due...here are my picks and predictions for Week # 1:  In the past I have given my picks against the spread; however this season I will just go with straight up winners and losers.

Picture
New Orleans Saints (0-0)
                                       @
Picture
ATLANTA FALCONS (0-0)
The Saints are the favorites here on the road and why not.  Since Sean Payton has taken over as the head coach, the Saints have been one of the NFL's best road teams.  Any team that has Drew Bree's as it's Quarterback, and Jimmy Graham (maybe the best tight end of this century), and the explosive offense that the Saints put on the field has a good chance of winning every game.  The Saints did loose running back Darren Sproles, which may hurt their screen game.  However; Pierre Thomas will get more touches and the team feels confident in his abilities.  Their defense is still suspect as always.
Now onto the Falcons.  Atlanta was one of last season's most disappointing teams.  Matt Ryan had his worst professional season.  The Falcons did have many injuries.  Number one receiver Julio Jones was lost for the season and Free Agent Running Back Steven Jackson spent most of the season on the sidelines.  The Falcons have sured up their offensive line so there is hope that "Matty Ice" can turn it around.  The Falcons have improved in the secondary so they hope that will limit the amount of big plays they give up.
MY PICK HERE IS THE NEW ORLEANS SAINTS 35-24

Picture
MINNESOTTA VIKINGS (0-0)
                                           @

Picture
SAINT LOUIS RAMS (0-0)
The Rams are 3.5 Point Favorites in this one at home against the Vikings.  Saint Louis must overcome the loss of it's Franchise Quarterback, Sam Bradford, who is out for the season.  This is a battle of two teams that have strong rushing attacks.  The Rams have Zac Stacy, who came into his own last season.  He is the prototype franchise back the Rams have had for many years.  He can pound the ball and is an even better weapon as a receiver out of the backfield.  Then we have Adrian Peterson for the Vikings.  Peterson came off an injury plagued season last year to dominate like years past.  Both teams will be employing journey men quarterbacks behind center.
MY PICK IS THE VIKINGS 24-17

Picture
CLEVELAND BROWNS (0-0)
                                      @
Picture
PITTSBURGH STEELERS (0-0)
So here we have a battle between two division rivals.  Cleveland comes into this game with a very new team.  They now have Ben Tate in the backfield as their starting running back.  However; they did lose star wide receiver Josh Gordon for the season to a drug related suspension.  They are going with Quarterback Bryan Hoyer for now as he showed some flashes of stardom last season.  However; Johnny "Football" Manziel is right in the rearview mirror.  The Steelers feature LE'veon Bell in the backfield who is multi talented and will split carries with LeGarratte Blount.  The Steelers still enjoy playing hard-nosed defense under coach Mike Tomlin and they will surely pound the rock.  This game could go either way, but I do not see the Steelers losing at home in front of their rabid fans.
MY PICK IS THE STEELERS 16-13

Picture
JACKSONVILLE JAGUARS (0-0)
                                        @
Picture
PHILADELPHIA EAGLES (0-0)
This is a tale of two teams that are going in different directions.  The Jaguars are still in a rebuilding mode and really do not have an identity on either offense or defense.  Chad Henne remains the teams number one quarterback as they still have not found a franchise quarterback.  Their defense has been equally inept.  They will look to turn around the league's worst defense in every category.  On the flip side, the Eagles are coming into their second season under Chip Kelly and his "high flying offense."  Those who think that Nick Foles was a one year wonder will get to see this season.  Although the Eagles did loose weapon Desean Jackson to the Washington Redskins during the offseason, they did acquire Darren Sproles from the New Orleans Saints as another weapon to add to the already stocked unit.  They also drafted Jordan Matthews, who actually was the leading receiver in all of the NFL during preseason.  This one should be an easy win for the Birds.
MY PICK PHILADELPHIA EAGLES WIN 42-20.

Picture
OAKLAND RAIDERS (0-0)
                                        @
Picture
NEW YORK JETS (0-0)

The Jets still remain one of thenNFL's most controversial teams.  This is due to the personality and makeup of its head coach...Rex Ryan.  Every year Ryan claims that this is the Jets year.  This will be the second season behind Franchise Quarterback Geno Smith.  Smith was God awful at times last season and other times showed flashes of brilliance.  The Jets do have a decent defense and they added tailback Chris Johnson from the Tennessee Titans in free agency.  Johnson has a lot to prove that he can still be an impact back in the NFL.  The Raiders are still a bad team.  I don't remember too many teams that have been as bad as the Raiders on a consistent basis.  Well, we shall see as the season goes on.
MY PICK IS THE NEW YORK JETS 23-13.

The Bengals come into this season with high expectations.  They have a franchise Quarterback in Andy Dalton, who they signed to a long term deal in the offseason.  They have a franchise tailback in Giovanni Bernard who is a rushing as well as pass receiving threat.  They have a dominant defense, especially against the run.  So what do all of these factors equal?  Well, Cincy still has to put what they have on paper to the real test and perform on the field.  Here we have yet another excellent divisional rivalry.  The Ravens are still lead by Quarterback Joe Flacco.  They also have star running back Ray Rice.  However; Rice begins the season on the sidelines after being suspended for two games for domestic abuse.  The Ravens did add pass catching wide out deep threat Steve Smith.  But, Smith is on the downside of his career.  The Ravens Defense has slipped a bit the past few years as well.
MY PICK IS THE BENGALS 27-20.

BUFFALO BILLS (0-0)

CHICAGO BEARS (0-0)
The Chicago Bears added wide receiver Santonio Holmes to an already elite core of Brandon Marshall and Alshon Jeffery.  They also have one of the best running backs in the league with Matt Forte.  Yes, there defense was a problem, but they feel that they have sured it up.  The Buffalo Bills on the other hand have not been to the playoffs in fifteen years!!!!! WoW!  The Bills now boast Mike Williams and Sammy Watkins who they drafted as the first receiver in the draft.  The Bills also employ the dual threat in the backfield with C.J. Spiller and Fred Jackson.  However, they are young at Quarterback with E.J. Manuel.
MY PICK IS CHICAGO BEARS 23-13.

WASHINGTON REDSKINS (0-0)

HOUSTON TEXANS (0-0)
The Washington Redskins also come into 2014 with high expectations.  RGIII, DeSean Jackson, Alfred Morris, etc.  They also bolster a really good defense.  So their season will rest on the arms of RGIII.  The Texans look to get back to the playoffs.  Ryan Fitzpatrick takes over behind center.  Adding Judaveon Clowney to a Defense that already has J.J. Watt makes this potentially the best defensive line in the NFL.
                                                                         MY PICK IS HOUSTON 27-23.

So....It is the summer of 2014.  You are the next billion dollar music producer.  Eddie Trunk, from "THAT METAL SHOW " contacts you and says he has a huge idea, and that he wants you to take on a leadership roll.  The idea...Eddie wants you to come up with a music bill, well really a festival, that will feature the best of the best Metal Bands.  The criteria...the band must have begun after 1970, the band must have at least one multi-platinum album under their belt, they must be popular in not only the mainstream heavy metal community, but also the underground scene.  The bands may come from any sub genre of metal...classic metal, glam metal, thrash, black metal, industrial metal, alternative metal, death metal, and many more.  And finally, this festival must be so big that it rivals the festivals in Europe and Asia.

The Two Headlining Bands will be Metallica and Black Sabbath.  The festival will be a two day event consisting of 50 Metal Bands.  Your job...sign the bands and set up the tour.  Most of the bands will be old school; however, there will be a good amount of modern bands in order to attract the younger generation, thus making the event the largest metal event in US history.  Eddie also explains that this festival will be put together to raise money for Cancer research as well as other deadly diseases.  He also gives you some more criteria and guidelines before you branch out on your journey.  The name of this Festival will be called METAL GODS OF THUNDER AND LIGHTNING.  The event will take place September 11th and September 12th in honor of 911.  This show will be held at Woodstock, to commemorate the 1969 Festival which was the largest of its kind.

Eddie calls you and explains that he already has a commitment from Metallica and Black Sabbath as the headliners...Metallica will play the first evening and Black Sabbath will close the festival out.  Word has already leaked out to the press and this show is being billed The Concert of the Century!  As mentioned earlier, the bands that are recruited must be in the Heavy Metal/Hard Rock Category (Hair Metal, Alternative, Grunge, Thrash, Speed, Industrial, Death, and New Age).  So at this point, you as the next up and coming music guru have one month to get the lineup booked and signed.  With Metallica and Black Sabbath headlining, you must find 48 more bands.  Eddie has also given you the option of bringing in a retired band, reunite a band, or assemble a band that has lost one of its main members.  This opportunity is one for the ages and will either make you or break you.

Remember, Eddie wants you to pick these bands according to their popularity as well as their importance to metal lore.  You have unlimited funds and have been given a team of the best recruiters.  This team includes some amazing former musicians of their own time.  On the panel is Mick Jagger, Ozzy Osbourne (who will be playing with Black Sabbath), Billy Idol, Jimmy Paige, Alice Cooper, and Steven Tyler.  The goal for the team is to first recruit the bands and then match them up to either the first or second day in order of popularity, influence, and accomplishments.  So you and your team set out to assemble THE GREATEST METAL SHOW ever in United States history.

So without further a due...here is what you and the team have come up with.  You have secured the following bands...some of which have already rescheduled shows for their current tours, for this MEGA CONCERT: Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Megadeth, Slayer, Anthrax, Testament, Overkill, Skid Row (w/Sebastian Bach), Van Halen (w/David Lee Roth and Sammy Hagar), Guns N Roses (Axl, Slash, Duff, Izzy, Steven Adler), Pantera (w/Zach Wylde), Alice In Chains, Soundgarden, Motley Crue, Lamb of God, Killswitch Engage, Avenged Sevenfold, Tool, Alice Cooper, Bullet for My Valentine, RATT, Poison, Faith No More, Twisted Sister, Sevendust, Def Leppard, Motorhead, BuckCherry, Whitesnake, Ac/DC, Nine Inch Nails, Marilyn Manson, Iced Earth, Aerosmith, White Zombie, Quiet Riot, Death Angel, Slipknot, Trivium, As I Lay Dying, Sepultura, Cinderella, Pearl Jam, Breaking Benjamin, Queensryche w/Geoff Tate, Disturbed, Godsmack, Five Finger Deathpunch.  Ok, so there you have it, 48 Bands plus Black Sabbath and Metallica.

Ok...so now you and your team meet with Eddie and it is time to schedule the lineups for both days.  Keep in mind...Eddie wants to try and pair the bands as close as possible with an even mix.
