THE LAND OF OZZ: A ROAD STORY OF EPIC MAGNITUDE...
BY JASON VOORHEES REPORTING FOR PHILLYROCKRADIO.COM
After everything was loaded, the band was on their way to the next stop, Paul Picarri's (Bass) house. When the band arrived at Paul's, the atmosphere was one of excitement and adrenaline. The band then helped load all of Paul's gear and instruments into the Durango. And then...the unthinkable happened!!! As the band was getting set to enter the vehicle and continue their journey, a BEETLE flew into Paul's right ear and burrowed into his ear drum. Of course, Paul was freaked out and panicked and the band scrambled to try and come up with a solution to get the beetle out of his ear! Well, to no avail, this beetle had no plans of exiting Paul's ear.
So, some of the band made the trek to the Car Sense as they had to jump over a fence that was partially torn down. Plan B, C, D were not an option at this point so their only chance was the Car Sense. As they entered the building, they explained that they were an Ozzy Tribute Band and that they had to be approximately 200 miles away in less than six hours. Right away, the Service Manager Rod Braun, was very cool about the situation and followed the band back to the Durango to assess the damage. After looking at the inside of the engine, the diagnosis was the Serpentine Belt, which split in half. Rod explained that he would order the part and then bill them for the part and use of tools at first. However; the story gets even more outrageous.
Needless to say, CAR SENSE gives the band the parts free of charge and Mike is able to get the Durango back up and running. The band is so very thankful to Rod and CAR SENSE!!! Wow, have you ever saw so much class and dignity from an auto repair shop of all places. They usually are in the business of ripping people off. So, Kudos to all of the kind employees at CAR SENSE that took care of the band. They even replaced the 50/50 mix for the radiator of the vehicle for free. You cannot make this thing up folks.
Well, needless to say, the Band Killed it at the show. So much so...that the club's ownership booked two more shows in January and February with The Land of Ozz as the headliner, and are even going to put the band up in a condo. To all of you that are wondering what became of Paul and the beetle in his ear. Well, the next day Paul went to urgent care where they debugged him. I think its safe to say John Lennon was also with this band on this night!!! In conclusion, this is a story of perseverance. This is a story of how situations can go awry at any moment. This is a story of how people can come together in their darkest moment. This is a story of how there really are great people out there. And finally, this is a story of how the Devil tried to ruin THE LAND OF OZZ's performance, but was never able to derail this train. This "CRAZY TRAIN" moves forward! We wish the Land of Ozz good luck in all future endeavors and I am very sure that this one moment could be a major defining moment in the bands legacy.
