Music Reviewer and Segment Producer
There's a lot of preparing that goes into Christmas. You put the tree up, sat the decorations in the yard and got your shopping done but what about your Christmas playlist? For me, music can take a special moment and make it more meaningful. The perfect music on a day such as Christmas can aid in creating memories that will last forever. Down below I have listed some of my holiday favorites in hopes that your day be filled with plenty of guitar solos and good times.
B.B. King - “A Christmas Celebration Of Hope”
B.B. King’s “A Christmas Celebration Of Hope” is a smooth mixture of Blues and holiday cheer. I think B.B. King plays each song tenderly and soulfully, he sings with passion and his guitar sounds like honey pouring out of your speakers. My personal favorite is his version of “Back Door Santa”. The song features horns and piano accompanying a classic Blues beat which lie behind B.B. King singing about the girls calling him Back Door Santa.
Lynyrd Skynyrd - “Christmas Time Again”
Lynyrd Skynyrd’s “Christmas Time Again” has been my family's top choice for years. I think Skynyrd’s familiar Southern Rock sound shines brightly on both old favorites like “Run Run Rudolph” and on original material like the slightly naughty “Santa Claus Wants Some Lovin’”. The album also features an appearance by Charlie Daniels and 38 Special. If you want a Christmas album that is friendly and rockin', this is for you.
Twisted Sister - “A Twisted Christmas”
Rock out with your stockings out while listening to Twisted Sister’s “A Twisted Christmas”. The band stripped down 10 classic Christmas songs to their chassis, then rebuilt them from ground up to sound hard, heavy and twisted. Some album highlights are Dee Snider performing a duet with Lita Ford on “I’ll Be Home For Christmas” and a Heavy Metal version of “The Twelve Days Of Christmas” appropriately named “Heavy Metal Christmas”. You could use this album to wake everyone in your house (and possibly your neighbors too) on the morning of. Why? Because, there are presents that need to be opened and time's awastin’.
Bob Rivers & Twisted Radio - “I Am Santa Claus”
Last but certainly not least is Bob Rivers & Twisted Radio's song "I Am Santa Claus". It's a festive parody of Black Sabbath's "Iron Man". The song is sure to spark some laughter among adults and possibly fear among children... Don’t forget to leave Santa cookies and beer because if so, he’ll visit your house first next year.
